Functie omschrijving:
The intern is supposed to contribute to the development of a process that efficiently converts organic waste to biogas. This can either be in the field of microbiology or engineering, whereby the exact assignment is based on the knowledge and interest of the student. The intern will be involved in other issues that are relevant to the company as well. This can mean involvement in activities as for instance performing contract research for customers, visiting customers, purchasing and developing bioreactors and peripherals. 1.The microbiological subject is focusing on optimizing process conditions for most efficient biogas production. Issues like process temperature, process pressure, biochemistry of reactions occurring, thermodynamic equilibria, organic chemistry of the substrate and interactions between micro-organisms all play a role that can be elucidated further.

2.Research after sulphur metabolism in anaerobic reactors. We are trying to predict hydrogen sulphide concentrations as a function of the organic feeding. Furthermore we are trying to find out if we can minimize hydrogen sulphide evolution in our bioreactors.

3.By student written research proposal.

Enki Energy develops and designs bioreactors for the anaerobic digestion of various organic waste streams (starting from 100 tons per year). Together with her partners Enki Energy can provide turnkey installations. In addition Enki Energy advises on the possibilities of the processing of organic waste streams and possesses a wide range of research facilities and pilot installations. Enki Energy is a specialist in anaerobic digestion of waste streams from a single company or even production process. We build digesters that can treat waste streams without the use of manure. This process not only leads to far lower amounts of solid waste (after digestion) but also avoids the presence of pathogens in the process. Our process therefore is safe and efficient with only little waste left.
