Getting things done (Senior Business Analyst)
Michiel ten Brinke | 04-02-2020
As a hardcore scientist, I always thought of strategy consulting as pretentious nonsense. But I now feel very differently. The impact of academic knowledge is making strides only very slowly; and if you are doing a PhD, it is limited to a narrow topic. At Kearney, I can have a tangible impact on many different subjects, in a short period of time.

Being a strategy consultant teaches me how to get things done. To set up a planning, involve the right stakeholders and simply take off. Kearney unites people from all walks of life. Thanks to this diversity, I find myself in a constant flow of variation, new insights and learning.
Working for C-level (Business Analyst)
Tim van den IJssel | 04-02-2020
I have a degree in Econometrics. During my internship at a large e-commerce firm, I could show my skills in datamodelling perfectly. But my work went through six layers in the hierarchy before it landed on the CEO’s desk. Now, my output reaches C-level directly; maybe I’ll even present it myself. That is the kind of impact I was looking for.

During my first project, I was sent off to Poland to organize a supplier day. This was part of a procurement project in which we were asked to optimize the logistics costs for our client. In that project, I was responsible for my own workstream. Being new to the job, this was absolutely challenging. But it boosted my confidence when I realized I had pulled it off.
