Functie omschrijving

The current assignment focuses on the imaging and handling of apples and pears. The assignment is broad and open to own interpretation. The directions of the assignment you could choose would be:

ROS general:

• Investigate possibilities of using ROS2 in combination with Rust
• Investigate ROS2 methods for logging large datasets
• Investigate possibilities of a build server for ROS2

Neural nets:

• Improving annotation speed
• Create a system to automatically train neural nets provided an annotated dataset
• Investigate possibilities of panoptic segmentation
• Investigate possibilities of running a neural net on 

Imaging:

• Compare ROS2 integration, speed and resolution for various 3D camera’s
• Optimisation of image processing speed (C++)
• Compare various calibration methods for multiple 3D camera’s
• Determine optimal placement for multiple 3D camera’s with respect to each other

Handling:

• Deterministic path planning
• Fast path planning
• Grasp generation (taking the stalk into account)

Functie eisen

Requirements:

• Interest in programming and robotics
• Experience with C++ or Python
• Experience with visual processing
• Experience with machine learning
• Nice to have: experience with ROS

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

The student gets the oppertunity to broaden his/her scientific knowledge. Also will the student be able to develop his/her programming skills, and learn to use knowledge from coleques of different fields.
